~After spending a couple of days in Denmark.. Steve & I headed out to fill up with gas and while out we saw the most unusual sight. I started yelling to Steve, "I think there are people in those cars on the top of the train - where are they going?" We followed the train to the loading station where we found the most friendly employee who was absolutely shocked that we were in this part of the country and had no clue about this place. This train takes you to the German island of Sylt - ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world! We hurried home and told Nana & Papa & the boys.. and decided that we would drive up on the train the next day!~
~We all loved it! I could not believe that we were sitting in our car, on a train. I don't know that we will ever do anything like this ever again. The views were spectacular and the boys were like dogs with their heads hanging out the windows the entire time. I think this should be an option for traveling the world.. you don't miss a thing!~
~When we arrived, we drove around the small island, ate some delicious crepes, and then made it to the far end of the island and started getting anxious to see these famous beaches. We came across lighthouses and thatched roof homes while we walked along the sandy path~
~The boys were getting very excited, they love going to the beach.. it was a race to see how fast we could get over the sand dunes to the ocean~
~We came over the dunes and saw some of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen. Clean, white sand as far as your eyes could see. The boys could not believe they were in Germany and on this beautiful beach. Who would have thunk?~
~I took Kade and started searching the beach for white agate rocks, and Cole could not wait any longer. He jumped right in the water and started to jump the waves. The weather was perfect, and it did not take too much convincing before we were all in the water having a great time together~
~Nana & Papa enjoyed their time on the beach.. a perfect time in life! Time seemed to just stand still.. all of your worries were washed away~
~I am so glad that we saw the train with the cars on top.. this would have been a horrible destination to miss.. it really was gorgeous here~
~These are the grassy dunes that are all along the island.. the wind was blowing the grass around and it was picture perfect~
~I worry that Kade will not remember all of these adventures that he has had while we have been in Germany.. but that is what photos are for!~
~After a full day on the beach, we decided it was time to head back to our Denmark house. We got one last family photo and then drove our car to the opposite side of the island...enjoying the incredible views as we drove along with the windows down~
~You take a train from the northern most part of Germany, and then you take a ferry boat back into Denmark.. does it get any better than this? The boys don't think so!~
~We drove on and then headed up to the top to sit in the sun. I am so glad that we bought this car.. the 7 seats were priceless.. we sold it one week later. I don't think we will ever have the opportunity to own a car for only 3 weeks ever again! We put 8,000 miles on it in 3 weeks and made $500! Beats a $2,000 car rental~
~It was amazing how different Germany is from Denmark. They border eachother, but have a completely different feel. I am glad we had the chance to see Denmark while we are living here.. it is a beautiful country (the little amount we saw)~
~On our drive home we decided to stop in Hamburg, Germany and eat some delicious "Hamburgers" - we are so silly :) What an absolutely amazing weekend!~
